The Special Olympics is close to home for us at MSN in more ways than one. We’re proud to participate with Microsoft as a major sponsor, and the 2018 USA Games are taking place in Seattle, not far from our campus.
We’re also cheering on local athletes like Andy Bryant, an elite runner with autism who works in one of our cafes and is hoping to break a personal record he set in his ninth Boston Marathon last April (you can read more about Andy here).
Because it’s so close to home, we’re very excited to be able to bring you an exclusive coverage package as part of our ongoing series, MSN Causes. Each day, we’ll have a new spotlight story and photos from the scene that we know will bring a smile to your face, like this one about a powerlifter nicknamed “The Incredible Eric.”
Maybe it will put some wind in your sails to overcome your own obstacles. Maybe you’ll want to volunteer in your own community or make a donation to this amazing organization, which this year marks 50 years since its founding by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, and has been changing the lives of people around the world with intellectual disabilities ever since.
As Microsoft President and Special Olympics Honorary Chairman Brad Smith puts it, “for all of us at Microsoft, ‘diversity and inclusion’ aren’t just words – they are integral to our mission of empowering every person and organization on the planet to achieve more.” We’re taking that seriously in the role we can play to spread that message of empowerment to the millions who read MSN every day.
